We want anyone to be able to use this site, with or without a disability, with a mouse or with the keyboard alone, reading the screen or listening to it. This statement is voluntary: neither Spanish Royal Decree 1112/2018, which binds the public sector, nor Law 11/2023, which covers certain consumer-facing services, applies to a corporate site like this one. We publish it so that we can be held to it.
Conformance level
This site is conformant with level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, the technical reference behind the European standard EN 301 549.
Conformant means every applicable level A and AA criterion is met, with the exceptions set out below. Level AAA was not attempted.
Scope
This statement covers every page published on this domain, in Spanish and in English: home, what we do, how we work, who we are, ideas, the articles, contact and the legal pages.
It does not cover third-party content outside our control: the social profiles linked from the footer.
Content that is not fully accessible
Links inside paragraphs. They are less than 24 pixels tall. Criterion 2.5.8 explicitly exempts targets that sit within a sentence, so this is not a failure, but we note it for transparency. The footer links, which are not in a sentence, pass through the spacing exception: there are 30 pixels between them.
Decorative separators. The one-pixel grey lines between list rows have low contrast on purpose. They are decorative and identify no control, a case criterion 1.4.11 excludes. The information they separate is text at full contrast.
Criteria that do not apply. The site contains no audio or video, so the criteria on captions, audio description and transcripts do not come into play.
How we tested it
Self-assessment carried out in September 2026 by the team that built the site. There has been no external audit and no third-party certification, which is worth bearing in mind when weighing this statement.
Contrast was not estimated: it was measured on the rendered page, by hiding the text, photographing the background and computing the real luminance of the pixels sitting under each block of text. The worst case on the site is 4.86:1 over the header images, against the 4.5:1 required. Grey body text on white gives 6.33:1 and the blue links 7.41:1.
We also checked, across all 29 pages: reflow at 320 pixels wide with no horizontal scrolling, text enlarged to 200%, forced text spacing per criterion 1.4.12, a full keyboard pass with the focus always visible, and a markup review (one h1 per page, no skipped heading levels, labels bound to every form field, alternative text, and a declared language on each page).
What we did to get there
There is a single animation on the whole site, on the home page, and it switches itself off if you have reduced motion enabled in your system. Nothing flashes.
There is a skip link to the content, focus shows as a three-pixel outline that turns white over dark backgrounds, and the mobile menu opens with Enter, announces its state and closes with Escape, returning focus to the button.
The site is static and sets no cookies. We also do not use accessibility overlay plugins: they do not fix the underlying problems and tend to get in the way of people already using a screen reader.

Write to info@1north.es telling us which page it happened on, what you expected to happen, and which browser or assistive technology you were using. We reply within two working days and, where it is in our hands, we fix it.
